Brush fire on Big Island was rekindled

Brush fire on Big Island was rekindled

Big Island fire fighters battled a wild fire that burned about 30 acres in the Kailua-Kona area between Hulikoa Drive and Hina Lani Street.
It happened just after noon on Wednesday.

The fire was a re-kindle of a previous fire that had burned more than 400 acres and jumped the break to burn the additional 30 acres.  Firefighters will monitor the fire overnight and into Thursday.

Fire fighters had the fire under control by around 4 p.m. and mostly extinguished by 5 p.m.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
